Physical Description

Golden Lion Tamarins are small monkeys with silky golden orange fur and a lion-like mane around their head and neck.  Unlike most monkeys, they have claws instead of nails.  They weigh less than 2 pounds and have no fur on their faces.

Family Life

Mother Golden Lion Tamarins normally have 2 babies at a time.  The twins grow up in the troop which numbers up to 11 tamarins.  They are usually cared for by their older brothers, sisters and their father.

Diet

Fruit, tree gum, fruit nectar, spiders, small lizards, snails, small birds and bird eggs
